Eco Schools grants

The Eco Schools grants program is now open to applications.  Applications close 3pm, Monday 19 June 2017.

The Eco Schools Program funds schools to assist with environmental learning opportunities for students, teachers and the school community. Eco Schools’ projects provide hands-on curriculum-based environmental education focussing on strong student participation.

Funding available

  • Grants of $3500 will be available for up to 80 schools in 2017-18.
  • While all schools are eligible to apply, we also encourage projects working primarily with students with special needs.


The program will fund environmental management projects aimed at achieving the following objectives.

Objective 1

Environmental benefits

  • Enabling schools to promote more efficient resource use and improve the quality of the local environment.
Objective 2

Student participation

  • To promote the development of knowledge, values and behaviour in students that supports environmental sustainability.
Objective 3

Teacher engagement

  • To assist teachers to access targeted professional learning, and to assist with integrating environmental management into curriculum delivery.
Objective 4

Managing for sustainability
in school and the community

  • To encourage schools and the community to explore opportunities for working together for sustainability outcomes.
