Broadcast Technologists are the glue that keeps the ABC on-air 24/7. Working in teams, Broadcast Technologists use their technical expertise to fix and maintain studios, network and other media equipment essential to production as well as broader IT equipment.

About the Role

As an ABC Women in Broadcast Technology (WiBT) Intern, you will have an opportunity to apply the theory of your studies to develop an excellent understanding of technology and its use in the broadcasting industry. You will be based in a technical support team maintaining broadcast equipment.

Your key responsibilities will include to:

  • Gain a detailed understanding of the ABC and the broadcast industry in Australia, and its future direction.
  • Build a practical understanding of operational and technical systems and equipment and the context of their use in the broadcast industry.
  • Work with placement managers to agreed objectives.
  • Carry out technical support, maintenance assignments, assisting with the installation of equipment and systems.
  •  Establish good working relationships with your team and colleagues; interact with clients and respond to their needs.

About You

We’re looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated women currently enrolled in an Electrotechnology, Electronics or Electrical Engineering, computer systems/shared technology at TAFE, University or similar.

If you also have the following attributes, then we want to hear from you:

  • Demonstrated interest in both the creative and technical aspects of electronics, computer, digital or broadcast technologies.
  • Creative problem solver with the capacity to evaluate and analyse technical problems.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with a range of people at different levels.
  • A supportive team player, able to contribute to effective working relationships with your colleagues, sharing knowledge and skills.
  • Good attention to detail and well organised.
