The Australian Government Department of Human Services is calling on parents of children who receive Youth Allowance or ABSTUDY Living Allowance as a dependent student to update their financial details with the Department of Human Services as soon as possible to ensure their child continues receiving their payment. The National NAIDOC Committee announced the 2017 National NAIDOC theme yesterday – Our Languages Matter.
The 2017 theme aims to emphasise and celebrate the unique and essential role that Indigenous languages play in both cultural identity, linking people to their land and water, and in the transmission of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, spirituality and rites, through story and song. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists are encouraged to start working on their entry which must reflect the 2017 National NAIDOC theme – Our Languages Matter.
The NAIDOC Poster competition is open to all Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples who are aged 13 years and older.
The winning artwork will be used to create the 2017 National NAIDOC Poster which will promote NAIDOC Week 2017 around the country. The winning entry also attracts a $5000 cash prize and is a wonderful opportunity for artists to be recognised Australia wide for their artwork. Find out more on how to enter.
